A couple years back I kept an online travel journal of my experiences studying and traveling abroad. The blog ended up being a great way for me to reflect on my experiences and process some of my thoughts into semi-cogent refections from life in a different hemisphere.
There is something powerful about taking the time to sit and write about experience: think about it, process it, reflect on it, share it with the world. And later, go back and revisit it. For me, writing stuff down is like throwing breadcrumbs along the trail: it helps me remember where I've come from and how I got to where I am today. I am a shameless journal-er and picture taker. I want those scribblings, those snapshots to help me remember the lessons learned, the moments of grace, the pain of failure.
The past year has been a turning point in my life. Some pretty significant changes took place and now I find myself on the other side, looking back, thinking, how did I get here, again? Is this really my life? I've been constantly struck by how good it feels to be on the other side. Wading through rejection, uncertainty, and a long list of Craig's list roommates was not a pleasant experience. But, I am thankful for the past year. I am thankful for where I am today. I am thankful for new beginnings. I am thankful for old friends. I am thankful.
And so, I hope that this space is a place where we can count our blessings together. Because, friend, there is much to be thankful for.
